Advanced SEO Strategies for Optimizing Your Website to Generate Better Traffic

TechnologyAdvanced SEO Strategies for Optimizing Your Website to Generate Better Traffic

SEO optimization can be a lot of work and seems especially intimidating if you’ve never done it before.

But it’s actually not that difficult once you learn a little bit more about what you should be doing.

So, to help you out in your SEO quest, I have prepared a few advanced strategies to help you score that sweet #1 ranking way faster and leave your competition wondering how you managed that.

And since you can’t do any search engine optimization without a tool to view your metrics, be sure to pick one out from best SEO audit tools

Run an In-Depth Audit of Your Site

Now, this might not sound too “advanced” but hear me out. By running an audit, I don’t mean just checking your performance metrics, but doing a complete analysis of all your pages and content.

By doing so, it will be much easier to figure out which areas of your site lack in terms of optimization.

Keep track of things such as your title and alt tags, meta descriptions, URL structures, readability, and links, both internal and external.

Speaking About Links

If you haven’t invested any time into building them, you should. Interlink your web pages to make it much easier for Google’s bots to crawl through your site, while indexing and guide your visitors through your content, so they keep reading.

Speaking About Links

As for external links, they are actually extremely beneficial for SEO, both outbound and inbound. The best links would be to and from sites with high domain authority as they serve as an indication for Google that your content is trustworthy. If you have a budget for this, it’s even better to hire a blogger outreach company like Outreachmama.com or similar to leave this job to people who are already active and successful in that field.

Also, backlinks pointing to your site from other resources transfer a fraction of that site’s own traffic and authority to you, so consider building some link if you haven’t already.

Google favours Longer-Form Content

Did you know that longer articles straight up perform better in search engines? Well, now, you do. So, if your content strategy is pumping out sweet but brief pieces of content might not be what you actually need.

It might be worth shifting towards publications that are at least two thousand words long to improve your rankings.

But keep in mind that it’s not just about word count, and you shouldn’t pad your content to reach a certain point. Take your time, but make sure that all of the information you’re providing your audience with is accurate, helpful, and engaging.

Update Your Old Content

Producing something new all the time isn’t easy. However, if you have a solid archive with dozens upon dozens of publications, it doesn’t hurt to go back and update them a bit.

This is especially so if you have time-sensitive content, like “Top 20 Thriller Movies of 2018, for example”. Why not update it for 2020?

turn your content into a video

But there’s much more you can do with old articles than just update. Repurposing it is also a very viable thing you can do. For example, if you have a 10000-word beast of a guide on some very specific topic, you can turn it into a video (or a video series) and upload it to YouTube to make that information much easier to digest.

Infographics are also a great way of creating highly informative and easily readable content. So, it could also be a great option to fuse all your articles touching on the same topic into one huge infographic, which is great for both user engagement and SEO.

Monitor Your Competitor’s Keywords

Use a tool like SEMRush to take a peek behind the curtains of your competitor’s sites and see which keywords they are using. Not only does it allow you to understand better what strategies they’re using and which keywords they’re ranking for, but also it can help you find not-so-obvious keyword gems that have little competition and a lot of potentials.

SpyFu

So, if you notice some keywords you haven’t thought of yourself, you can implement them in your own content to reap the benefits.

You can also run in-depth audits of their resources with SpyFu since competitor research doesn’t end with just keywords, and you’ll be able to pick up quite a few strategies and tricks to use on your own project from your rivals.

Engaging Content Is The Key

Remember that all of your search engine optimization efforts will go to waste if you don’t have the content to back it up. So, focus on producing content that engages your audience, addresses their needs, and tries to satisfy them as much as possible.

I hope you learned something new from me today, and good luck with your SEO campaign!
